Re: SCD diet

The blood-type thing is fairly seductive, since it uses a laboratory test to make a determination about how one should be eating. From a simple logical standpoint, however, this premise is absurd. Our ancestors never would have done anything like this...and there is ample evidence that ALL blood types have been around fom mostly the get-go (which of course blows this whole theory out of the water). Consider that 1/2 of everyne out there is type "O"...which is supposedly the "hunter-gatherer" blood type. In this vein, at least half of everyone is going to be eating quite well. That makes D'Adamo look pretty good. He tells everyone else to remove processed foods from the diet, which is going to help everybody. Some folks are told to be vegetarians....which may feel better short term, as this can be cleansing if lots more vegetables are being consumed...etc. But to tell type A's to do this long term, when a majority of those living in the Baltic area of Northern Europe, for instance, has this blood type (close to the Arctic Circle and short growing seasons) is outright silly and baseless from an evolutionary and physiological standpoint.

Sounds like you're doing most of the right things. No worries about the raw meat-thing. You might try some carpaccio sometime as a way of testing the waters...I think you'd be surprised at how doable that is. Sally Fallon in Nourishing Traditions also has some good raw meat and fish recipe's for those interested in taking that plunge. No hurry, though.

Meat shouldn't constipate you unless you have some digestive issues. Biliary stasis can be a major contributing factor to constipation, as can HCl insufficiency. Ideas to consider.

Mostly, kudos to a healthy diet. I forgot to mention the coconut oil-thing....but you beat me to the punch!

Warmly,

~Nora
