Re: Probiotics Reduce the Prevalence of Oral Candida in the Elderly
Commercial yoghurt is inferior to kefir and other fermented products because of the lack of strains available. Until there is a full investigation into every yeast and bacteria present in kefir grains it is to early to suggest that kefir is useless in the fight against candida albicans and more specifically, the synergistic compounded effect of multiple strains working together to control a single species.
Whats interesting here is that the fight never stops... Ive often pondered why, but I'm unable to answer this question apart from the fact nature placed candida albicans within the human body for a reason, and that reason is to decompose the body after physical death. Therefore based on the logic that the yeast is there for a reason, will there ever be a permanent "cure" for candida albicans ? If scientists can develop a permanent cure, a couple of points must be noted... firstly, how long are people who are suffering now, going to have to wait for this cure, and how much will it cost ? and secondly a "cure" will clearly tip the balance of something that has existed within nature throughout the evolution of the human species.
My view is that the "fight" never stops, and aslong as you have an adequate spectrum of beneficial bacteria in sufficient quantites, the best source of which are kefir grains, kombucha and fermented products, our body will have just enough within its disposal to keep on top during the "fight". Consider the Chinese philosophy of the yin and yang, "something harmful" is unable to exist without "something supportative", therefore this can be applied to the electro bacterial level aswell... positive is unable exist without negative, I believe nature understands this all to well, even at the bacterial level.
The "alternative" viewpoint is that anti-biotics destroy a specific species that specifically contains candida albicans and without that species you are destined to fail with regards to a recovery and your only hope is science, I disagree because Ive had complete success by ingesting kefir grains.
As you well know I'm an advocate of Colloidal Silver
(to create the most conducive conditions for successful implantation of bacteria) and so are others like trapper, the question must therefore be asked, if trapper, myself and others have controlled candida albicans, we must have this magic species of bacteria that specifically controls candida albicans... however I don't believe that this is the case, I believe a broad spectrum of bacteria work synergystically to control candida albicans, and this is what Science
underpinned by newtonian physics misses, the wider picture of synergy between fragmented entities, or in laymans terms, the compounded effect of multiple strains mutually contributing to the control of candida albicans.
