I'm very suspicious of any report that says someone died on a fast. And usually with good reason. The last one I heard about was a case where a diabetic died after fasting for only three days at a fasting retreat. The publicity as you could imagine was nasty, the state medical board condemned them and the fast was blamed of course. The details when you dug a bit deeper were quite a different story to the one that was publicised not surprisingly. The person in question lied to the retreat about their knowledge of fasting and actually overdosed on self administered insulin and was rushed to hospital where they unfortunately died. The cause of death was certainly not the fast and I'm sure this is the case in most recorded or publicised deaths.
Good luck with your new plan, and don't worry about your husband, it would be great if you could fast together what a great experience to share. :)
