Re: Help about depression

Hi Fjeldmouse. There are others here who can help you with natural ways of helping depression, I hope they check in and reply. There are many nutrients which if depleted in the body could be part of the problem. It is worth getting her blood checked if she would at least consent to a 'passive' visit to the doctors rather than one to discuss her depression. I would suggest that to get her to get checked out you support her decision not to discuss her feeling sad at the doctors, just to get the blood tests and find out the best natural supplements to use to help if needed. A doctor is more likely just to prescribe drugs anyway and that might not be the best option for her, certainly without trying other ways first.

I have another question and that is how old is she? The symptoms you describe could also be the not so early onset of dementia. It is less likely if she's been 'exactly' like this before, but it's something else to consider also. The symptoms you describe could be that, but also Depression and Obssessive Compulsive Disorder. She would be better off seeing a good counsellor than a medical doctor to begin with, if she needs further help from there they will be able to refer her on. Of course the challenge is still getting her to admit she needs the help.

One thing you could do is do a search for general symptoms of Depression and Obssessive Compulsive Disorder and print them out for her to read. Again I hope that someone replies with suggestions of specific natural treatments which you could also print out for her to show her there are other options than doctors to consider. I beat my Depression without medication or natural remedies, rather with self help techniques and natural healing. So it can be done, that first step of admitting something is wrong and you need help is a very big one though. She will need your support and encouragement when she gets to that point, remedies and counsellors aren't magic pills any more than drugs are, she will have to do a lot of work herself to 'get better'. Nobody likes doing that kind of thing alone.

I wish you and your mum all the best.

Take care,

Andrew.
