i am sooooooo happy!!!!

Hi,

I have to report on this. I learned about oil pulling/swishing on this forum several weeks ago. I investigated and then I half-heartedly tried it. I dropped it for a few weeks and about three weeks ago I decided to start again. Before I continue, I will qualify: I have had periodontal problems for about twenty years. I have had two gum surgeries. I am under the care of an excellent periodontist (gives lectures, is very well recognized, etc.). I have my teeth cleaned every three months. I brush my teeth three times a day (sometimes four if I ate something icky or sticky). I floss regularly. I have been chugging along and always heard "keep up the good work", after being examined by my periodontist at every cleaning visit.

As I said, about three weeks ago I started oil swishing religiously every morning before breakfast. Here is my routine:
1. Brush teeth after I wake up
2. Do oil swishing for about 15 minutes - I cannot stand it any longer than that.
3. I use Ayurveda refined Sesame oil.
4. After swishing I brush my teeth again with baking soda, floss, clean the tongue and then rinse with celtic Sea Salt .

Today I had a my regular cleaning appointment with my hygenist (sp?).
1. She measured my pockets and then she came back and measured one of them again.
When I asked, she said "I thought I had measured wrong, but no, this one is
actually very reduced. The pocket is not as large as it used to be.
2. She scraped just two of my teeth - she used to scrape all of them.
3. After she was done (in half the time she usually takes), she said "You are
doing an excellent job. Pockets are smaller. Inflamation is very reduced.
What are you doing?"
4. I just said - "I am trying to do a good job."
5. When my periodontist examined me he looked very puzzled and asked me the
same thing. "What are you doing?" Same answer.

I will not say anything until I get this thing beat. I am going to be very diligent. I have another apointment in three months and I want to find out what she has to say. I will report again. In the meantime, I just wanted to mention this. If anybody is thinking about doing oil swishing and is having doubts, please go ahead and try it.

P.S. Regarding whiter teeth - I do not know. I am an older woman, have drank a lot of coffee in my day and my teeth have yellowed with age and abuse, I guess. Still, I do firmly believe that my teeth are lighter than before, but could not say with certainty.

I AM THRILLED!
