Re: Hi, I am so glad I found You Guys

Hi Becki, good on you for finding out about fasting and choosing to make the effort to do this for yourself. You can certainly continue posting here for advice and support, we will be interested in your progress and happy to help in any way we can.

3 days is certainly a good start and not a waste of time at all. If you want to make the most of it try to eat raw food for the next three days after the fast, then begin your next fast anytime after that. That way your body will get used to fasting and eating the healthiest and most nourishing foods nature has to offer and you will surely feel the benefits very quickly. Raw food, especially fruit, is also the most easily digested of foods so hopefully you will find little or none of the problems you describe here during that time of refeeding. To ease into eating again even more gently you could try drinking fruit and/or vegetable juices before eating the whole fruit. Some people even go so far as to break a fast with diluted (half water half freshly squeezed juice) on the first day following a fast, then non diluted juice the next day, and then reintroducing whole fruit the following day. This might be worth trying for you with a history of digestive problems.

If you feel dizzy the first day it might be from low blood sugar, after that it is less likely. The blood pressure often lowers during a fast though and that can cause dizziness. Neither cause of dizziness is anything to worry about (unless you have a history of diabetes too and that is why you are worried about your blood sugar?) though and if you are feeling dizzy just sit down or lie down until the feeling passes. Also be careful of standing up quickly at any stage of your fast if you are susceptable to dizzy spells at all.

You can drink too much, but if you just follow your thirst you shouldn't have too much trouble. Just don't pick an amount of water to drink and aim for it, stick to the amount of water you would usually drink at the very most- your body won't need any more while fasting and will most likely be happy with a lot less.

Andrew.
