cat's foot is infected - please help

One of our cats has a tumor on her foot. It looks like it got infected, but we didn't notice it until yesterday. It's really nasty - so nasty, we decided to take her to a vet so they could clean it out. That's where they discovered the tumor.

They want $400 to anesthetize her & biopsy it. I hate the cost, and I hate putting animals out. What if it is cancerous, anyway? We're not going to do some kind of cat chemo.

I'm looking for things I can do at home to help her situation. I wish I could get a second opinion, but what vet isn't going to want to make a few hundred $$ off of a cat?

I was hoping to do something like use Iodine on it, but it looks bad. They cleaned it out & wrapped it all up. This probably wasn't the greatest idea, because now she can't lick her own foot. I'm not sure she'd been licking it anyway.

Do you have any suggestions?
