I'm sure that toilet position for defecation has a bearing on prostate function. My Advice for using the squatting position is to first take off all clothing below the waist including socks. Wearing socks while squatting on a toilet seat is slippery compared to bare feet which grip naturally. As for clothing--it gets in the way of the "drop zone" and if you ever have loose stools and spray-- your clothing will become soiled including your socks. This is advice for home use--for a public toilet keep your shoes on and flip up the seat to use the porcelan [ also with no pants or underwear on] So unless you're extemely regularly " well formed", using the squat position with clothes on is possibly messy!! I've used the squat position for 40 years!! [and i'm now 60] For water splashing upwards when a really " blocky" or heavy well formed B.M. hits the water in the toilet bowl, I recommend placing a flat mat of toilet paper first on the water. This will absorb the shock of the falling B.M. and prevent backsplash from soaking your butt area. Also its a good idea to flush before you go if there is already urine or leftover B.M. water in the bowl. This prevents urine and B.M. particles from backsplashing onto your butt{ even if you use the "floating toilet matt method " there can still be backsplashing if you have really massive well formed B.M.'s--- in that case increase the thickness of the floating paper matt]
