I've been doing the same this last month or so but stress has been my biggest enemy. To make the fasting process easier on yourself stick to raw foods if you need to break a fast early- then you are keeping in preparation for the next one. Don't worry about losing more muscle or building it up beforehand, the muscle will grow faster post fast when you have the energy to do strength exercise again. Heal your body first and work on the rehab later.
