Re: I disagree with this article's conclusions
chrisb1,
My opinion is that 90% of the time,
Depression is caused by a misguided "philosophy of self", and the other 10% of the time, it ALSO includes a nutritional element.
The depressed person (depressed long term throughout life instead of because of a single emotional event) is depressed (disappointed/overwhelmed) about life being filled with corruption and injustice, and will experience long term and constant "sadness", but has been indoctrinated by society's scientific and egotistical condescension that they are inferior and "defective". Being encouraged to think this way, they agree to view themselves as a "clinical UNIT" and become a literal "group of chemical formulas" that will be validated by clinical
Science once they CONFORM, but in doing so, not only do they become forever enslaved to pharm/med (and all science/research), but they destroy (and depress) their bodies, their minds, and betray (sell out) SELF (which adds "conscientious depression").
It is sad that so many people choose to do this, but speaking against this "status quo understanding/definition" of
Depression is not only considered "social heresy", but even the depressed person considers it INSULTING because it doesn't validate their choice of social/scientific conformity.
So, while recognition of the NUTRITIONAL element of
Depression is an uncommonly realistic (rare and insightful) thing to do, I believe that most scientific speculation is, at best, impractical, unrealistic, and irrelevant. In my opinion, the true cause of a person's depression is their own PHILOSOPHY and realistic evaluation of life (profound and sensitive, characterized in this painting...).
