Question for BR Experts/Purveyors

On one hand I've heard you are supposed to keep increasing your dose of BR until all symptoms are gone, then stay on it another 30 days. After that, do periodic routine maintenence.

On the other hand, I heard you are not supposed to take BR continuously. (After I'd already been taking it for a year!) I was told to stop for a month, then go back on it. So I've been doing this periodically for a while now. Whenever I start back up, I have to begin with a tiny little dose, and build back up again, which seems like a setback to me. But maybe that is what is supposed to happen.

I am concerned about the possibility of developing resistance with a whole bunch of starting and stopping. On the other hand, if the little critters making me cough are laying eggs, perhaps it is necessary to stop for a while, let the eggs hatch, and then go after the babies.

Is there anyone else, who has taken BR internally, who could share information on the starting stopping routine, and the possibility of developing resistant strains?
