Pork is very safe to eat if you cook it, just like any other meat. No one has a problem with chicken, but everyone knows undercooked chicken can cause Samonella poisoning. So when you eat chicken, you are eating dead Salmonella and other pathogens, so I don't see the difference between eating cooked pork or cooked chicken. The whole reason we cook any meat is to kill stuff that may harm us, and that goes for any meat, not just pork.
