Re: MIRENA REMOVAL: Has anyone fallen pregnant before even getting their first period ?

I think that the reason you aren't having your period yet is because the hormone is still in your system. The Mirena has the same hormone as the Depo-Provera injection which is why you stop having your period while it's in place. After you have it removed (especially since you had it for about a year) it may take a month or two for the hormone to get completely out of your system. I went from the Depo-Provera injection to the Mirena and just got a period for the first time and I have had my IUD since March. I'm sure if you speak to your doctor they will say about the same thing. Also they can do a pregnancy test via blood work or just give you an ultrasound and if you are definitely not pregnant there is a pill that will make you start your period. It is called just plain Provera, which is the counteractant to the progesterone hormone. I hope that this information has helped and good luck!
