I have bad cold, can I take iodine?

I have terrible cold. I was wondering if I could take Lugol's during this episode of cold.

I have been taking 10,000mg of Sodium Ascorbate Crystals. I also had stopped my Lugol's intake for last whole week due to my thyroid hurting.

If I can sleep better that is all I want at this point. I cannot take robutusin etc. because it gives me reflux. Plus I do not like to take any drugs.
