Ephesians 6:17 "...(which is...). edited

I didn't recognize your number at first, Stoneface. I asked that same question to my father 35 years ago. The reason it can't be answered logically is because the question is in conflict with itself. "Different" refers to there being MANY/more than ONE (plural), and that is impossible to apply to ONE (God/singular).

But it's also that "opinion" is not necessarily TRUTH.

In your last sentence, you ask two questions....

1) are we sinners?

2) "OR" can we be forgiven? (we can only be forgiven OF something,...we have to admit to being "sinners").

Being a "sinner" does not mean that a person is of evil intent, it means that we are IMPERFECT (only God is perfect). We (humanity) are a simple people and in order to be reconciled to God, we need to accept God's Son as our Savior AND have God's eternal spirit of peace and love in our heart and mind (conscience).

The question means that your heart has not been satisfied by all the partisan regimentation ("rigor of devotion", Colossians 2:23) taught in the churchES (the only true church is the body of Christ).

True to human nature, very often, we ask the wrong question because we speak/write according to our objection to the situation. Your objection to the traditional teachings is a Godly one. In essence, "civilized" peaceful coexistence is what God is all about (we still need to accept His Son AND His spirit into our heart).

The traditional teachings of "churchES" teach that God is primarily OUTSIDE one's self, and at best, only teach the introductory (Hebrews 6:1) word of God ("word of truth", 2 Timothy 2:15).

If our hearts have not been impressed by the traditional teachings, we will find the "details" of Christianity "insufficient" (let God's grace be sufficient for you, not "Christianity", not TEXT, not "churches").

If you already know The Lord, let your growth be from The Lord, not from the scholars (don't worry about the scholars "details").

-------------------------------
"That there is a devil there is no doubt, but is he within us or is he without"...(quote from the movie "Ten Little Indians").

By the same token...
That there is a God there is no doubt, but is He within us or is He without.

------------------------------------
Traditional teachings belittle/destroy a true sense of SELF (Colossians 2:18) so that God is more without than within (depends on the person).

In reality, satan cannot control a person if God's eternal spirit is within because God's eternal spirit restrains satan (2 Thessalonians 2:7, requires understanding, faith and a loving heart).
