Here's a variation of the worlds simplest motor, the homopolar motor. The difference here is that the AA battery and neodymium magnet are the rotating parts. The battery and magnet hang from the steel wire holder where a copper wire controls the power. (less)

Decided to try this after seeing a few videos here on YouTube.. I need stronger & larger diameter magnets but the battery acts as the roller in this case instead of the magnets.
All you need is (1) AA Battery and Earth magents on each end. The magnets must be attached to the battery so that two "like poles" face each other. Place a piece of wire, bent in such a way that it makes contact with the magnets on each end and watch it roll... It took a few attempts to make it work but I finally got it. (less)
