Your killing me here haha.
Whats causing the kick is the back EMF, the field induces current in the metal.
The current field in the metal opposes the field which induced it originally and they repel each other.
This has nothing to do Ferro-magnetism.
You can make anything magetic if you have current going through it.
How do you think your car speaker works? It has a permantant magnet, which repels a copper coil or an aluminium coil. By running current through the coil, it repels or attracts itself to the magnet.
I agree, aluminium itself is not magnetic, but the back EMF induced in the metal is.
Current running through a metal creates magnetic fields, and a back EMF is just that.
It doesn't require ferrous materials, otherwise the copper wire in the mag pulser coil wouldn't do anything.
