What are the tests you have done on the bacteria.

Is it gram positive, catalase positive?

How do they present themselves, in chains, in pairs, alone, in tetrades? What is the diameter of the cocci?

Micrococcus luteus is usually found in tetrades, form small and very bright yellow colonies and is a normal inhabitant of the skin.

It isn't motile though, and cocci rarely are motile.

Are you sure you're seeing motility, with the single cells moving in apparently random and different directions?
