Re: Long term fasting: what supplements and extras?

The only rule I've seen for recovery times is to eat cleansing raw foods an equal amount of time after the fast. This has certainly worked for me. Eating raw foods hydrates your body and will certainly give it the best quality stores to provide for your next fast. Because the fast doesn't begin right away- it takes at least a day or two for the body to switch from digesting food to digesting it's stores- breaking the fast for shorter periods then starting again may actually induce a starving response, where the body is still looking for foods and both trying to store and survive while you are depriving it. This could also happen if you try sipping juices during your fast. So either stay on the fast with water only or break it completely.

Chris is very good at describing the return of real hunger which is what would happen if you digested all your stores before your thirty days. A real hunger will return as opposed to just imaginings and cravings. As in, you won't just be thinking about it but your whole body will want food. Your mouth will water again where before it was coated with gunk because of detox. You will feel good generally apparently, all vital signs returning to normal such as bp and temperature etc, but your body will really want to eat. Going beyond this point is starving your body, eating at this point will feel perfectly natural and there will be no further post fast detox symptoms.

So you won't feel bad when your hunger returns, on the contrary it is an end to any pain or discomfort.

If your weight is low and you feel you may be close to this point now, I advise you prepare for your next fast as best you can for at least another 2-3 days, equalling the length of your last fast, then be prepared to end your fast when that hunger returns rather than setting a random day just for the sake of reaching it. If you make thirty days great but if you only make 10 or 15 or whatever and your body wants food, rejoice that you have accomplished a great thing. :)

Cheers,

Andrew.
