Re: Long term fasting: what supplements and extras?
Doing a
Water Fast properly means not taking in anything other than water. Any nutrients such as vitamins and the lactose tabs they come with would stop you entering a fast and I don't think would be that good for you. As long as you aren't skin and bone already you will have enough nutrient rich stores in your body to survive off during the fast.
Really focus on how you will break your next fast, plan ahead for it at least in your mind. Think about where you will get the food and when you might need it etc. Then if you start thinking about other processed foods while on the fast stop yourself and go through that original plan again. Let yourself think about what real foods are waiting for you instead of letting the thought of junk foods take over. Then if these thoughts do take over and you have to break the fast due to them you will be prepared and break the fast properly. This in turn will start to teach your body to crave the right foods without having to worry about breaking the fast badly so much. Also if you break the fast cleanly with raw foods then the cleansing continues and will prepare you for your next fast better and better each time.
Find a light stretching routine for your back. Something that you can do without warming up so nothing too strenuous. Even a bit of light yoga or similar is very good for the back and won't take too much energy. The back especially responds very well to light relaxed movements as well as to rest when it is in disrepair. I exercise my whole body lightly for 5-10 minutes every morning fasting or not. It has kept me limber over the years and helped me avoid injuries many times.
The best way to prepare for a fast is the same way you plan to break it, eat as much raw foods as you can and as little cooked or processed food.
This book on fasting is available free on the internet and should help you a lot.
