Re: First time water fast - 6th day - feel very tired.
Hey Chazn, congrats on a very successful first fast so far! You're doing great. My advice is to take care with the workload, and if you can't avoid it be prepared to break the fast before you become too drained of energy. I am certainly not one who would advise you to lay down and rest for your whole fast, I think it's great you're up and doing stuff. I have been waking a bit antsy in the mornings myself lately and have taken first to going for walks and today I just went for a 3 or 4 kilometre jog to use up the energy. However through circumstances beyond my control I have also overdone it on fasts, and work for you could turn out to be the same. So if you feel like the tiredness is becoming more than just a feeling and you are really starting to feel drained of energy consider breaking the fast. There is an advantage to breaking the fast early compared to going the distance and it is that you get to 'practise' breaking the fast properly. You are teaching your body fasting and that is great, but it also needs to learn which foods to crave, especially if you've been eating really badly for a long time (as I was too).
So rest up from your workload as much as you can, go to sleep early each night etc, all common sense stuff. But if your workload keeps sending you out while you are still drained of energy consider breaking the fast for an equal amount of days on first fruit and then if you like raw salads then start again when the 'recovery' period is over. This has been working well for me, I am only craving raw foods now and in the last eight weeks I've fasted half the time and lost about 20-30 kilos. That's about 44-66 pounds. I can't be more specific coz I didn't weigh myself right before I started- it was more like a month or two prior to fasting.
I have been in a very similar situation these last 7 years or so, work stress being what first sent me off the rails and then my second broken marriage just over three years ago same as you.
Good luck!
Andrew.
