Re: iud

Hi, please go to this website...

print it out and take it with you to the doctor - Mirena causes many different side effects. water retention is common and may be the cause of the swelling. If you look at that website you will see a list of common side effects, but under the "Warning!" section, you will see one paragraph which you really need to make the doctor aware of.. it says amongst other things.."You should inform your doctor IMMEDIATELY if you experience any of the following symptoms while you have the mirena coil fitted:....unusual swelling in one leg..." many people have had both their feet and legs swell, this is a nasty side effect. Doctors are given details of some of the side effects of mirena, but most of them seem to ignore mirena and do not believe it can cause any side effects at all, but are happy to put us through a whole load of other unneeded tests!! If you get the mirena out, you should notice the swelling gradually go down. If the mirena stays in, it is likely your side effect will get worse, to be honest, because that is the pattern we have seen and that has been our experience on this forum, which is filled with women who the doctors denied could have problems due to mirena. I hope you have no other side effects with mirena, and that you can get this one sorted out very soon.please post back soon to let us know how you get on. In the meantime keep reasonably active and drink plenty of water to keep your system as cleansed as possible. good luck to you:)x
