Re: why do you take iodine?
Trapper,
I know you read a post of mine about how I got into the whole researching of alternative medicine. Some of this will be repetative for you but maybe helpful to others reading this thread. I have a strong, actually an INTENSE interest in being healthy and vital as I age (I'm only 31 now). I've worked at hospitals for years and looking here and at the population in general, I see so many people that are sick and it's preventable and so senseless. In my searches, occasionally someone would suggest iodine. Then when my doctor saw some signs that made her check for hypothyroid, even though the test came up negative, I decided to do my own research to see what I thought. Perhaps I'm not very bad - I'm generally healthy (so far) - but I saw signs that appear connected to thyroid (cold extremeties, constipation, irregular heartbeat, difficulty losing weight) and started taking my temperature. It is generally quite low so I decided to start experimenting with iodine. I painted my inner arm and absorbed the spot in an hour and a half! (for those who don't know, they say if you absorb within 12 hours you are deficient in iodine. I read a post of one lady absorbing in 6 hours...) So I am supplementing now and we'll see where things go. Taking
Iodine gives me cold symptoms so I figure it's stirring stuff (mucus) up and I am on the right track. As a child I took lots of
Antibiotics and I've eaten a TON of dairy in my life, so this reaction does not surprise me. And now I eat much less dairy and much more veggies. Anyway, that's why. I'm new, only on my second week (a few days on, a few days off) so I'll report in more as things progress.
