I have done both but I didnt see a difference. Like I said at first I did it because I was gagging from all the toxins, in my opinion, because when I first started I could go a full 20 straight but then I switched to coconut and started gagging almost vomiting and had to spit and redo.
Eventually the gagging stopped, peppermint helped but I believe the toxin load lessoned and therefore I didnt gag.
My purpose now for spitting it after 10 min is I like the fresh not foamy. And it really does only take less than 10 seconds to change.
But my oil never gets thick like I have read from people here. I wonder why. Mine is always very, very thin and foamy.
