Re: Trying a water fast...wish me luck!

Fantastic Krissy, I wish you the best of luck on your journey. I can't help you myself with the numbers much unfortunately. I've never been a weigh in person so though I have done long fasts I'm not sure how much weight I've lost or gained back. I did weigh myself before starting my latest fasts but that was a few weeks before starting and haven't gotten around to updating as yet, there are other things more important to me than the numbers.
The water equation seems to vary a bit. I have heard the suggestion here of drinking half your body weight in ounces or some such. I read on the net someplace to drink as much as you like when waking in the morning, up to 2-3 litres not being too much. (I think in metric sorry.) My first long term fasts were done on one glass of water a day and that seemed to work fine for me then. I have tried the 2-3 litre method and found that different, even much easier than I'd tried before- the idea behind it is to really flush your whole body out with clean water, right down to the cellular level. I think this is was a good method up to a point, but as the days went on I did feel the need to reduce my water intake dramatically, and if I'd stayed on the fast longer I would have ended up right back at my one glass a day I think. It's quite possible I didn't read enough about this issue so my suggestion is to certainly listen to advice from here but also to go to the source and try to find a few different suggestions and see what you think sounds best for you. I don't have any url's handy but it is easy enough to google 'how much water to drink in a water fast' or something similar.
You may already be doing this but the best advice I can give you is to think beyond the 25 days to the next 25 days and to how you are going to break the fast, then what kind of diet you are expecting to reinvent for yourself when your recovery period is over. And also what kind of exercise and how much you wish to do once your body is ready to do that regularly again too. If one of your main goals is weight loss be prepared for the return to 'normality' or your body will be waiting eagerly to resume it's old habits.
I'm in day five of my fast and if all goes well will be fasting for your whole fast so I can offer what support I can. Best of luck!

Andrew.
