Re: Brainwashing!

While many of the people here on the forum are from other countries around the world, a large number are from the U.S.A. They want to meet other folks with the same interests as themselves. Oprah and Letterman are just players on the stage, doing well at what they do; you can choose not to listen to them.

When the Europeans came to North America, they were fleeing prejudice and restriction. They defended themselves with guns. How courageous these people must have been to land in a new place where they had to figure out how to survive the horrendous winters -- and still have enough food to survive. No roads, forests to clear, challenge after challenge. The use of guns was necessary so that the people could defend themselves from wild animals or others who wanted what they had. This is just how it is. If there were a catastrophe today, the same principle would be invoked. Those who do not have will want that which others have, in order to survive -- i.e., food, water, fuel, etc. Survival is paramount!

In Canada, the RCMP went ahead and put laws into place ahead of the settlers, so guns were not allowed because the police kept order.

What power in the world got there through peace? Having power means subjugating someone else; this is not done by discussion! Conspiracy theories abound, but somebody has to be in charge or there would be chaos. It's not all pretty, but let's hope that it is not all rotten. If a country is not in conflict with another country, then its citizens are probably in conflict with each other. It is ongoing and unending.

We're here for spiritual development; I don't know if that includes peace. I doubt it; this is the School of Hard Knocks. If it were perfect and peaceful, then there would be no point in our coming here for tough lessons!

Slaves may have been purchased in the U.S. but they were sold by their own people in Africa. Thousands of them travelled under horrendous conditions, having to lie amongst dead countrymen on the long voyage, sold out by their own brethern.

The U.S.A. is the land of opportunity and that is why people from all over the world want to arrive on its shores -- so that they can create a better life for themselves and their families. People all work hard to support their families, but they can use the tremendous opportunities to build a future, not just an existence.

Not every country in the world allows dissenters to have a voice; they do in the U.S.A. Which country would you choose that would be better? Each has its drawbacks. Have a look around; no matter what you don't like, you can probably live your life in the way that you want to. That is your choice.

On the face of it, the U.S. looks pretty good.

Kindest thoughts.
