Re: Question about breaking fast-I have a similar Q
I agree Chris, even on my 30 day fast I certainly was not 'voraciously hungry'. It was my first long term fast and I thought that I had 'felt hungry' but realised soon after breaking it that I had tricked myself. And there were a variety of reasons why though I started to break that fast correctly soon went off track. One was definitely inexperience- not realising the importance of sticking to water-rich, raw foods for the recovery period and just thinking good healthy food would be just fine. Another was giving in to cravings and wanting to eat everything at once, wanting to at least taste as many different things as I could in one day if not at the same meal. I certainly wasn't hungry though, I knew I'd broken the fast before I'd needed to.
I would not worry about how many calories you are eating though. You are not dieting when you break your fast you are refeeding a body that wants good nutritious raw food and enough of it to replenish the reserves it has been living off. Of course if you did the fast to lose weight you don't want to overdo it, but the recovery period is not a time for restriction either. If you are feeling like you need more food, add something to your diet, a heavier fruit like a banana or avocado if you are still just on fruits. Avocado's are great because they combine both with your fruit meals and with salads to make them a bit more filling also. Raw nuts are also great, they are full of nutrition and will fill you up but again you will have to forget how many calories they contain.
