Well I've never been in the UK, I just got the measurement conversions from the International unit web site.

I'll look for a glass cooking Cup with marks in it. I bought mine from a supermarket and it has measurements for up to 2 cups, with marks for 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, etc. The best would be to ask someone there who cooks a lot :)
