What I find amazingly disconcerting is how progress has made just about everything we use better except for the pollution that it causes. Cars, computers, airplanes, space travel, telecommunications, industrial machinery, and a lot of other things keep getting better and better while the food that comes out of the factories, farms, or the slaughter houses has been getting worse for a long time now to the point that close to half of the population is obese with a sizable percentage morbidly obese and we now have epidemics of every major disease. I guess it must be because the food industry makes more money producing fake food rather than real food which also benefits the health care industry. But what will they do will all the excess money they make? Maybe they can buy themselves the best treatments modern medicine can offer and buy those drugs that cost anywhere from $100 to thousands of dollars a month. If you have cancer, you can get treated with Avastin by Genentech for $50,000 to $100,000 a year. Or you can still go the radiation or chemotherapy way if you cannot afford it.
