The reason threelac and the other remedies that used to work no longer work is because your Candida overgrowth is getting more aggressive and resistant. In the early days, Threelac worked great. Since then, I've tried it all including the most powerful natural antifungals like Oil or Oregano, Olive Leaf Extract, etc., all of which worked for a while, but only got me so far.
Then I learned to mix antifungals and rotate from one group to another each week. Last week I used Oil of Oregano - 8 drops under my tongue, 4 times a day; 2 Capryl and one Biotin, taken one right after the other. In between antifungal cocktails I take Bifidus - a probiotic. That's the most powerful combination for me, but this week I'm switching so my body doesn't get used to it; I'm 99.5% candida free, but tomorrow I'm having sinus surgery and will have to take an antibiotic.
I came here searching for info on the effectiveness of S. boulaardi because my doctor prescribed Florastor. I already have a supply of S. boulaardi and have not found it to be particularly effective, but after reading Nightrider's advice - which totally resonates with me - I'm going to return this new box of Florastor and get Lactobacillus GG to take with the S. boulaardi I already have.
After following a strict diet and finding success with various homeopathic remedies, I'd binge on desserts and bread thinking I was completely cured only to relapse. This has gone on all of my adult life. Finally I found a program I was willing to pay for - only $10 - to get the answers I was obviously missing. Candida Secrets by Cynthia Perkins explains it all but because I'm new to the forum, I can't post the link so you'll have to Google it.
Best $10 I've ever spent and now I'm close to 100% healed for the first time in 2 years. I know I have to eat the things I love in moderation but if I go overboard and find myself in trouble again, I know what to do to stop the overgrowth in its tracks.Hope this helps
