Tee hee, I was joking with the Roseanne R. signature--
I'm Julie!
I haven't felt really well in a while. I started
Iodine (the
detoxified) last December, and the skin stuff (horrific itchy
red rash, raised welts, indescribably itchy) started not long
afterward. Lasted 2 months. This was on one drop of detoxified,
which I increased to 7 drops till I started reading the forum
in mid-Feb. and found out about bromide. While it was nice to
know there was a good reason for the rash instead of 3 different
diagnoses for it by 4 doctors (eczema, eczema and staph, and
a fungal infection), it didn't do that much for my mood and
well-being till it started dying down. I next got pain in my
left knee, which had not ever been there before. I was still
on detoxified at this point, but had upped my drops to 10
or so per day. I switched to
Lugol's in early April and not
long after my left thumb started going the way of my knee--
inflexible and painful. The knee occasionally hurts all by
itself at night, without any motion. This put a crimp in my
yoga practice so I had to back off doing some of my routine
for a good while. I also experienced a great deal of brain
fog and crippling fatigue. Indeed there were days when I
felt I was on the road to Alzheimer's, no joke. I backed off
iodine for about 5 weeks, and then embarked on a juice fast
and started using 2 drops at first and then increased to
around 14-16 drops. I found I could no longer take the liquid
iodine (esophageal irritation and even heartburn, bloating,
gas). I had also had my share of diarrhea earlier, which I
forgot to mention, but only for a couple of weeks. I finally
decided to try Iodoral, which I've been on ever since, but also
supplementing with a few drops of Lugol's, then when I rec'd
Trapper's gift, I used that, up to 5-6 drops. Next was the
extreme insomnia. I had one night where I did not sleep a wink,
and had to void 8 times total. Finally at around 4:37 a.m. I
got up, realizing I would not sleep that night. I had to go to
the bathroom 2 more times (total of 8 times). I have had other
sleepless nights, usually get to sleep by 2 or 3 though.
Decided I'd had enough of it, what with the insomnia, sore joints,
and a very painful skin irritation on my left palm, with burning,
itching cracks, so painful when they break out that I can't do
much of anything. I won't take a painkiller for that. There is
no ointment that even touches it, I tried Miracle Gel, didn't work,
I tried aloe plant (the inner goopy part of the plant), and that
did not help. Today it's still irritated and dry and red, but at
least I can function. I had the sense all along that this skin
irritation, the bladder issues and the joint issues have to be all
part of the same syndrome, but am at a loss as to how I can remedy
it. The blood and urine tests came up negative. The creatinine was
a bit low (not sure what that is, except something to do w/
protein) and the renal ultrasound came up negative. The doc said
I had a small bladder and suggested a urologist. What is a urologist
going to do for me, make my bladder bigger? Uh, I don't think so.
So I'm giving all
Iodine a rest for now. I am going to do a loading
test as soon as I can afford one, and then I'll go on a maintenance
dose if it is appropriate. I would not be at all surprised if all this
is due to fluoride trying to come out and calcium loss due to its being
bound to calcium, but I dunno how to get the old kidneys to work any
better. I've gone broke buying all the companion supplements that have
been suggested, so I'm not going to be buying anything for a while.
I'm already shelling out big bux for glyconutrients from M****tech but
have not noticed a difference one way or another in my health. I'm
fairly healthy, and I think this is just detox that is to be expected
when taking fairly large doses of
Iodine (I was using 5-6 Iodoral tablets
plus varying amounts of
Lugol's or Wilson's) but there comes a point when
one needs to take a break every once in a while.
Have you done any fasting or cleansing prior to starting the supplementation?
That helps a great deal.
Good luck to you, hope you can get some relief. Don't give up yet.
It's the first step in a potentially long journey, and an important one.
