I posted before about having my third round of red eyes with a small amount of serous drainage increased to matted eyelashes this round. I had been using
Colloidal Silver alternating with my own drops.
After Trapper had mentioned that the
Colloidal Silver back to back made my eyes feel scratchy because it, in effect, eliminated the tears. I started using my own drops only and in two days the redness left. I want to say this was not just a little red, they were really red.
Here is what I used and did. I bought a 12
oz bottle of normal saline in the eye department at Walmart (less than $2.00). To this I first added vinegar and a couple of drops of Lugols, with no effect, so my thinking is that either one of these could be eliminated, although there may be some synergy. I then added 1-2 tsp of boric acid (I didn't measure). To me, this was the active ingredient.
I not only put drops in my eyes, I gently smoothed the liquid over my eyelids and lashes. At night I put the solution on small pieces of Bounty paper towel and went to sleep that way. If I had to get up during the night, I replaced those wet packs. For the last two days I have been doing only the drops in the AM and the wet packs at night, because I wear contacts and have been working outside the house during the day and there has been no return of the redness. During the active stage, I did use the drops frequently during the day and left my contacts out.
My eyes were slightly dry, even before I started iodine, and I have noticed they are very dry during these episodes. For that I am taking huge doses of Vitamin A and cod liver oil, and I took a huge dose of Vitamin A (200,000IU) the first day of the return of the red eyes. Tonight my eyes are not dry.
