excessive protein in the urine can be a sign of first stage renal failure. this exhibited by foam in the urine that wont go away after the stream is stopped. apparently this happens in diabetics. over and over again, the doctors have seen this process reverse with iodine. there is some mechanism of the Iodine that keeps the kidneys from letting protein into the urine. this is, i think, a lessening of scar tissue in the nephron of the kidney which is damaged, in the case of diabetics, by too much Sugar int he urine. this can also occur due to heavy metals, especially mercury.
