Wow - Thanks so much for the welcome and direction and hard work!
Some answers to questions and more info about my health situation ...
Vulcanel - I've read a summary of the Eskin-Ghant study and have printed the entire thing tonight. I'm not sure if I can listen to the radio broadcast that Wombat mentioned but I will try (I still have dial-up and it is SLOW).
I live in the south too, Paulette - North Georgia to be more precise. Yes, it is promising that my doc prescribed the iodine.
After getting the prescription filled, I started to do my research and here I am. I've been to
Breast Cancer choices, and
Iodine Research (whew - a lot to absorb there).
I agree with you, Wombat regarding the whole body issue - that FBD indicates a larger deficiency - and I think the dose prescribed by my doctor is too low.
I would say that I have bad case of FBD - very painful part of the month and uncomfortable the rest of the time. I have lumps under my left arm that are very painful all the time, and that is particularly scary.
I am 38 years old, and was recently diagnosed with skin cancer on the left side of my face (basal cell) and am scheduled for MOHS surgery next week. This was a big surprise I'm not someone who has spent a lot of time outdoors or wearing sunscreen (I am fair-skinned, have family history, etc.). I have, however, spent many hours in my car with the sun shining in on my face ...
I also have a history of IBS, migraines,
Depression and insomnia - and based on what I've been reading, I am in great need of positive change.
I have decided that I will start at 12.5 mg and build up. I've bought
Sea Salt , and I need to buy a good source of magnesium (the oil sounds promising). I bought some liquid magnesium and it is horrible (no taste - more like a weird salty bitter - quite different than iodine).
Is there a reason why I should wait until after the surgery to start? I am hoping the skin cancer will not be deep, but there is a possibility that a larger/deeper area will need to be removed. It is an outpatient procedure, but I've been told to prepare to stay all day if needed, and have been restricted from using any medicine, herb, vitamin or mineral that would thin my blood ...
Thanks again :)
