I have seen oregano oil and coconut oil, among other things, referred to as "antibacterial". Don't these also kill good bacteria as well as bad? I guess I'm basically wondering how naturally antibacterial substances differ from taking a prescribed antibiotic. I do take probiotics, but I still wonder if it's enough.- Re: antibacterial vs. antibiotics sandover

I looked around a little bit and did not see any sites that actually recommended taking probiotics with coconut oil (and actually it is recommended that you take coconut oil after Antibiotics to avoid fungal infections, too) or that otherwise indicated that coconut oil could wipe out good flora. This is a danger, though, with xylitol and I am sure with other substances.
I would keep using coconut oil with absolute impunity!

MoreThis is a reply to # 873,407regarding oregano oil, i called the company yesterday (P 73 brand) to my surprise their product will kill all the bacteria. upon further questioning - you need to take 20 or more drops to do that. i did not think to ask if this is 20 drops at a time or daily.
i am going to restrict myself to 7 drops per day until i have more updated information.
