Hi, I've been pulling for about 6 weeks now (organic, unrefined sunflower oil). A friend of mine started with the same oil at the same time and right now we are both at a time where we should be having our periods.
I haven't gotten mine, however - just had some blood/mucous come down which I start was the start of it all and then it stopped. I had taken some Apple Cider Vinegar to try and prevent a cold (it worked) a day or so before I was supposed to have my period and I've heard ACV can delay the onset of the period in some women but it's been about 8 days and my period still hasn't come any more than I just mentioned.
My friend is having something similar - a dot of blood a couple of days ago and she thought her period was starting. The next day, nothing, then maybe a bit of rusty colored blood the third day more like the end or beginning of the period.
The first periods we had - 2 weeks into oil pulling were pretty normal. For myself there wasn't much clotting (figured that was due to just being healthier, less toxic from the oil pulling) and it wasn't really painful at all.
I have read recently that Vitamin C, Beta Carotene and Bioflavonoids are very important to the elasticity and health of the uterine wall. I read an article which described that estrogen is used instead of these vitamins to strengthen the wall (bioflavonoids being similar somehow to estrogen - sorry I'm not too clear about how) when a person doesn't have enough of the vitamins mentioned. So, when her period comes the estrogen being needed elsewhere, it is pulled from the uterine lining and that makes the capillaries and such weak and unable to hold in the blood, hence the bleeding around a womans cycle.
I mention all of this because just by chance, while we have been oil pulling, since the last period there's been great vine ripened tomatoes for sale and we have been eating a lot of them! At least one or two a day. I've read that tomatoes are high in Vitamin C, Beta Carotene and bioflavonoids and so now since both my friend and I have had a similar change in our menstrual cycle (lessened bleeding) I've been wondering if others who are oil pulling might want to try eating some good tomatoes - at least once 2
inch tomato a day - and see if maybe with lessening toxins through oil pulling and adding the vit c etc from the tomatoes that maybe this might happen to others.
I'm not sure, of course if the effect is just temporary and next month or even in the next few weeks I will just have a "normal" period - but I can tell you it would be wonderful if those people who claim bleeding isn't normal but a result of a toxic body and world were right and something as simple as oilpulling and some supplements could create such a change in everyone!
Sorry to be so long but I would love for anyone to try the experiment and get back to the post - Thanks
