How much water did you use? Did you take it all at once, or did you let a little in at a time with occasional pauses to allow the water to gradually distribute itself throughout the colon?

3 feet is a bit higher than I prefer (1 1/2 - 2 ft), but not high enough that it should cause pain like you experienced. Have you taken enemas before? If so, did you have more discomfort this time than usual? Were you constipated when you did the enema?
