I agree with Newport about the Lexapro/Iodine combo.

I have my mom taking a few drops (and she's taking Prozac) I did LOTS of research before I did that, but since the doctor was getting ready to make her take thyroid hormones, we decided to test out the iodine...so far it hasn't caused any noticeable problems (typical detox stuff), but no obvious chemical reactions.

Lexapro however, is a whole different story.

For the cold? ECHINACEA! It strengthens and enhances the immune system and doesn't interact with anything. Just last night (after spending hours in a very wet basement), my husband came up with a MAJOR case of the sniffles. He was sneezing, coughing, shivering and had achy joints already. Normally at the first sign of a cold, we hit it with a 5000mg of Vitamin C and that takes care of it, but last night he took a double dose of echinacea tincture, and within hours all the symptoms had *poof* disappeared. He slept like a log while his body finished the fight :)

A LOT of good health food stores carry Echinacea tincture from a company called Herb-Pharm, it's one of the best.

Here's some other places where you can order GOOD echinacea online (you have to be really careful with tinctures, most all of them on the market are totally worthless...good echinacea should numb your tongue a bit). But it doesn't 'numb enough' to be noticeable if it were in a glass of something else :)

A good quality Echinacea tincture is a "must have" in EVERY medicine stash. We've been married now almost 11 years, and between us we've only had 3 colds and one bout of the flu...and ALL were because we didn't take our Vitamin C/Echinace soon enough (we thought we could wait until the next morning).
