Hey, great work! Sounds like you have a good solid goal and a lot of determination.
I've done a lot of fasting on both
The Master Cleanse and juices over the past five years, including a sixty dayer, and happily achieved my major goal a year ago, turning 50 with a clean pink colon!
The first week is definitely the roughest (barring crises later in the fast). Be sure to keep your colon very clean every fasting day using either a plain
water enema once a day, strong cup of herbal lax tea morning and night, and/or the famous Salt Water Flush (posted many times on this and other forums). This will help you to take out the toxic waste on a timely basis and avoid detox symptoms.
If you need extra energy, drink more juice... I highly recommend you get a juicer (people really like the Juiceman products for price and production), and make up a day's worth at a time. Keep in airtight bottles in the fridge. Alternately, San Francisco ought to have a place where you can buy freshly made, UNPASTEURIZED juices. It is critical to fast on fresh, live juices for maximum nutritional and cleansing benefits.
I do my regular gym workout every day fasting on juices. I often dissolve 1 tablespoon BLACKSTRAP molasses in a cup of hot water and drink like tea before workouts for added energy. You can take a tablespoon of blackstrap anytime for a boost, or just drink additional juice.
You should drink fruit juices in the morning, when your body is naturally in a cleansing mode, and vegetables in the pm when you are rebuilding. Total juice intake while fasting is generally 3-6 cups. Be sure to drink PLENTY of extra water as well. It is very easy to become dehydrated while fasting!
Many times I have attended lovely dinners, sit and sip a cup of chamomile tea and enjoy the company of friends. However, be warned! As you cleanse your senses will become extra sharp -- many times I have snatched a plate from in front of an unsuspecting diner and taken a good long WHIFFFF! Food looks and smells terrific while fasting -- actually much better than it does when you're eating!
You can do it. Take it a day at a time, and never let yourself be caught without juice in case you get the hungries! You will start to enjoy the process after a week or so, as you lose about a pound a day and start to look and feel lighter!
