pommes frites? haha! are you in germany? pommes and schnitzel anyone?
i originally started eating healthy becaue my health was so bad i would have eaten roof shingles if i thought it would have helped me feel better.
but the longer i go down this route, the more i am finding that super healthy eating can also be very tasty and very comforting. i am not all raw, and don't aspire to be. i eat sprouts everyday, and greens and juice everyday. but i also eat what you call comfort food.
the difference is my comfort food is chock full of nutrients. and its spicey and hot and yummy.
i have been posting a lot about bone broths lately and how so very very healthy they are. well, here is another secret - they make the most wonderfully tasting and addictive and healthy soup you will ever eat.
you can sprout rice and cook it, add some olive oil, curry, and veggies. thats good eating, its comforting, and its healthy.
homemade salsa with REAL apple cider vinegar with some organic blue chips is my favorite snack, and its healthy.
for lunch i will have an ezekiel 4:9 tortilla shell, with hummus spread, peanut butter, some homemade salsa, garlic, ginger, and some greens, rolled up. very yummy, very healthy.
when most people say "comfort food" they mean fat and carbs. so i suggest that you find the healthiest version of fats and carbs you can and then knock yourself out.
sweet potatoes with organic butter (raw butter if you can find it) and honey, sprinkled with cinnamon, are a wonderful comfort food packed with nutirents. plenty of healthy carbs and fats there.
eating healthy does not have to be some strict imposition and discipline. you can get creative. and dont buy into the "you must only eat X Y and Z, and only raw, and only this and only that, and bla bla"
eat what makes you feel right, but eat the very healthiest version of that thing.
