Just to give you a brief background of myself. I am a former lip bitter who unknowingly bit my lower lip in reaction to social anxiety. But the condition of peeling lips didn't get worst until moving into a old house with lead and other environmental issues. I was never a user of lip balms so the condition got worst. It was while taking a shower did I broke out in hives from head to toe. The hives settled in the right courner of mouth effecting both the upper and bottom lip for a period of one year. I now know that in frustration I massage/rubbed my lips raw trying to compress the swelling of the lip and using antihistamines to control the hives.
I experienece varying success treating what I now believe is a form of cheilitis. After seeing my primary care physician and three dermatologist, and prescriptions of topical steroids. I started to use herbal remedies to attack the fungal infection, believe me it is an fungal condition. Now armed with that conclusion, I went to my local organic store and started a very agressive assault on the internal fungal infection.
First I started by buying these natural supplements(evening primrose oil, B-complex vitamine, grape seed extract)to enhance the immune system and aide in helping to stop the excessive daily dead skin. I also considered the information of flushing the liver, I didn't go quite that far but, I started a regiment of first thing after awakening of drinking a mixture of two teaspoons of apple-cider vinegar, organic chai and honey. And throughout the day a
quart of grapefruit juice and also to eat at least one grapefruit a day.
Second thing was to start addressing the exspoded lower level of skin of the lips. I applied a tea tree ointment with vitamine E to the lips. Noticing some success in both hue and some new skin forming on the outter edges. I later got the tea tree extract and used it as a mouthwash, in conjuction with Tom's baking soda toothpaste.
The frequentcy of dead skin decreased after a week. And with more research in dermatologic forums and witnessing some success I stop using the tea tree oil as a mouthwash and started using it as a supplement to the toothpaste taking avantage of its cleansing prowess.
Third I started applying two or three drops of the extract to the toothbush. Making sure to brush the entire mouth cavity; under the tounge, the roof the tounge, the gums, and the roof or the mouth.
There are slow signs of improvement but a lot more than I was getting from the pompous dermatologist who refuse to investigate root causes and apply superficial bandages.
If anyone is interested in the outcome, or is willing to try some if not all of my regiment please respond with info.
