Hello everyone,
I am confused about something and thought someone here might know the answer. I have had heartburn for about 3 years now everyday. I had the scope and they said I have a dueodnal(spelling?) ulcer. The doctor prescribed Nexium and it worked great. I took it everyday and never had heartburn once. After three months I weened myself off of the Nexium and the heartburn returned within 48 hours. Then I read about the theory of the problem being not enough stomach acid and taking apple cider vinegar. I tried it and the ACV works great for heartburn also. My question is how can the Nexium (acid reducer) and the ACV both work to relieve heartburn? It seems that they are complete opposites, yet they both work. Anyway, neither one is a cure, just something to help the symptoms. What I am really after is a cure. I refuse to take the Nexium anymore. I will find a cure or die trying, but I wont take drugs to cover up symptoms anymore. I tested negative for H pylori and hiatal hernia. All foods seem to give me heartburn. It is very frustrating. Any ideas?

I am about about a year or so behind you. Did the nexuim, but refuse to take it anymore. Can you tell me what is the "dosage" you took of the Apple Cider Vineager?
I couldn't take more than half an ounce, in two attempts. I hope you will tay something like a tablespoon :-) At first, I refluxed seemingly from the ACV, but later it seems like it may have helped.
Also, I have read a bit about the arguments for "too little" acid in the stomach, so I am wondering what is the answer to refluxing on an empty stomach or from spicy foods. I guess you can reflux from both too little or too much.

I take approx 2tbsp with about 4-5oz of water. From what I have read it is very important to choose a quality brand that has the "Mother" in it. I use Bragg's ACV. Shake it well each time before using. You can see the "Mother" settled at the bottom before you shake it. nexium:: works by getting rid of all the acid in your stomach.. so then your stomach goes oh no!! we have no acid!! so it floods itself with acid ...giving you relief.
ACV: now acv just adds acid....doesnt get rid of all of it ...just supplements your stomach with a little more acid than it normally has..which gives you almost instant relief.
That's the difference between the two.
Yea don't take any drugs ..you will only worsen your problems later on down the road...stick with ACV...and peppermint tea perhaps

start with bowel cleanse first ...the cure is always the same for exquisite health.
Another thing you can do is click on the ailments section i believe and look up heartburn...find out ways to get rid of it !
