Oh, I DO love entrepreneurs!!!
The 'store presentations' I mentioned were just the gals you see offering tastes of crackers/jams/bottled weiners/etc. in your local grocery stores.
My idea was to organize a group of them to SELL tiny containers of wonderful oils, in healthfood stores.
(There could be a 'tasting' of the oils, too. Say, on a toothpick, or something.)
Since the idea would be to promote the sale of larger bottles of the oils, you would want the small container customers to return, to ask questions.
In the scenario I wrote, both the store and the oil-producer would be interested in paying you. It would simply take a little questioning, first, of existing demonstrators, to learn how this business functions in your area. Then I'd question the healthfood store owners, in a friendly fashion. You'd soon learn what they would like.
They might even connect you with their favorite oil supplier...likely a distribution house.
You, on the other hand, have envisioned many more scenarios than I. They sound great. I particularly like the idea of a 'support center', where customers come to you at their leisure...and say what interests them.
The most important part of beginning a business, of course, is to work out exactly how you will spend your time. Nothing discourages a new business owner faster than being too busy.
The next big stopper is lack of authority, when you have 'partners'. Before you spend a penny, or make even one enquiring phone call, establish firm relationships with any 'partners' you plan to work with. This could apply to key employees, as well.
Everyone who works in a business must have 'job satisfaction', beyond even decent pay.
Many new business owners, especially husbands and wives, don't know that they need to have clearly defined areas of authority, where each has the last word on decisions to be made. These areas should be according to each one's field of expertise, of course.
But, you already know all this. I only mention it here, off topic, so that anyone reading here another day will have some idea of what it takes.
I love your idea to spread the news about oil-pulling. And your take on the possibilities is excellent. You have a winner here.
I also very much like your ideas on combining goods and services in one center, Mama Crow.
I call the one I plan a 'support center', mainly because so much of what will be offered will be very low-cost, or free.
Then I must find space. In our town of spiralling property costs, I'll probably have to seek a 'sugar daddy' land-owner.
Your town sounds like it is absolutely ready for you.
Do check on the attitudes toward 'alternative' healthcare, won't you?
I've been squelched too many times not to mention that here. I began to wonder if I had bad breath, or something.
If you don't find a warm reception for your ideas when making your initial enquiries, have a Plan B in the back of your mind...where you do what you want, but smaller, maybe tucked in with something else, until it catches on.
Getting down off my soapbox now.
You have it, Mama Crow!
You will do very nicely, indeed.
My best,
Fledgling
