fledgling
No, you don't have to heat it, but you may, if you feel like it.
We cook with it, because heating coconut oil is safe, or use it in or on any any food you wish.
Would you believe salad, with a hot cooked vegetable or two stirred in? A couple of times I used four oils I like in a 'hot' salad...butter; good olive oil; Udo's Choice; and coconut oil...a little of each, with a sprinkle of lemon or lime juice, and Celtic grey
Sea Salt .
I've even made mayonnaise in my blender with it...a raw egg, some lemon juice and salt, and slowly add an amount of the oil(s) of your choice, while blending. Parsley, cilantro, or dill goes good in this, or any herb you like.
The taste of coconut oil is delicate and light...nothing like how it looks.
If it is doing you good, you'll grow to like and expect it.
As with anything, try giving it a rest for a bit, from time to time.
There may be something in letting the body restore, on its own, sometimes.
Enjoy!
