MH says that the whole house will fill with the pineapple smell; my first one just got mold on it so I threw it away. I kept a better eye on the second one; it was a bit fragrant but not so much as I expected. Anyway, I gave it a little pinch or two so figured it was ready when it was getting softer.
I have only had pineapple out of tins when I was young; lately, only the cutup version in the grocery store's fresh food section. Pineapple always seemed tart, hard and not particularly pleasant. This, however, was yummy.
Give it a try, Trapper; I'm sure that you will really enjoy it.
