Does anyone have any experience of living with a fully-prolapsed uterus?
I guess I had a prolapse for a few years without realising it -- the first I was aware of anything amiss, apart from the odd backache now and then, was when it started ballooning outside me a couple of years ago. I hadn't a clue what it was -- at first it was just like a bag outside my body and very painful until it went back in. But after a few weeks the cervix came out and the pain disappeared.
It's out all the time now, except when I lie down. About 4" long and probably just under 2" in diameter and the skin on the outside has dried and toughened.
I'm now in no discomfort at all. I've no doubt from what I've read that the doctors would simply say that they'll do a vaginal hysterectomy. But is there any reason why I should have that done if I've no other problems? Apart from the fact that it looks anything but feminine, is there any reason to do anything at all about it? I reckon that my vagina is completely everted, so it's hardly likely that anything is going to push any further out. And now that I'm over the initial shock, I reckon I can live quite happily with the appearance and feel of it.
Anyone got any experience of living with this?
