The insomnia in my case is actually chronic. I've had it off and on for 6 years, but have currently been going through the longest bout at 6 months, which is way too long to subsist on only 2-4 hours of sleep a night. It gets a little worse during the fast (as you said, must be a detox symptom), but I've found that afterwards it usually corrects itself and I can sleep normally.
Day 2 went good. I walked for 20 minutes at the gym and started my dry skin brushing again. Getting that oh-so-lovely detox breath and coated tongue. :P Lost approxomately another 2.5
pounds which brings the total to around 5. I used to lose more dramatically on fasts, but I've lost a lot of weight (over 50 pounds) over the past year through healthy eating and exercise, so I think my metabolism is a lot steadier than it used to be. This has helped me to break a plateau I had been stuck at for almost a month.
I think I'm going to do the 5 full days as I feel pretty good and energetic and my detox symptoms are not so harsh as to necessitate eating. I understand the mental thing- I had some friends that wanted me to meet them at a barbeque restaurant after work. "You can just drink water!"... I know I'm not strong enough to resist that kind of temptation, though, so I declined. I have been fantasizing about apples, of all things, and it's very good I don't have any in the house.
No reason not to start again- when you are ready. I was going to start on the 2nd, but I couldn't get through the first day. So I gave myself a couple of days and started on the 5th. Sometimes you're just not ready; that's not failure.
I'm going to go get some light outdoor exercise today. Tuesday I think I am going to do juices to break the water fast. Wednesday will either be juices or I will start on the raw foods diet I'll continue for a week. Then I'll get back to my normal (non-holiday!) diet.
Good luck to evryone!
