I would like to get some of my intestinal and physical problems under control. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in fasting with me starting on Thursday, January 27. I have done a couple of fasts before, not PURE water fasts, also not juice fasts. I hope to complete a 10-day Water Fast in order to help clear up some of the symptoms I am experiencing from PCOS, Fibromyalgia, esophogil(sp?) reflux and Celiac Disease. I just need to keep myself busy and would like to have someone to be, in a sense, accountable to. I wish the best to you all. May God bless and keep you.Advertisement

I look forward to starting with you tomorrow. Have you fasted before? I am worried because I have attempted to begin so many times during this past month, but without success. I have done a 10 day fast and a 9 day fast before. I know I can do it, but for some reason, it has been exceptionally difficult lately. We can both do this! Good luck to you! Until tomorrow. Google AdvertisementThis is a reply to # 686,475Do you have lupus and RA? How long have you had these? My husband has had RA for about 5 years now and will not consider any alternative therapies. Have you fasted before and controlled these illnesses? My heart goes out to you as I know how debilitating these autoimmune diseases are.

MoreThis is a reply to # 686,480Hey, I have fasted before but only a 10 day fast, i do have both RA and lupus..Which is lousy...I have quit taking all my meds because they have so many side effects and they do more harm then good...Vioxx? lol anyway when i fast I notice a huge difference...I dont swell, I am more energized...I want to go 10 days .. Good luck...You should tell ur husband to read into fasting because what does he have to loose honestly?

Google AdvertisementThis is a reply to # 686,481On a trip to Florida last year, I read Joel Furhman's 'Fasting and Eating for Health', out loud in the car to my husband. He doesn't believe it, doesn't want to change his ways. It makes me quite ill when I know there is a docotor, or naturapath who lives 1 hour away who completely cured himself of colitis and RA over 25 years ago with fasting and proper nutrition. I even set up and offered to pay for a one hour consultation - my husband would not go. Oh, dont even get me started, it makes me so ill. The meds cost about 700.00 per month and include methotrexate, plaquenil, arava, prednisone, daypro and lortab.
I hope you do well with your fast. From all that I have read, the autoimmune diseases do best with a diet that does not allow dairy, meat, and wheat....in addtition to no sugars or excessive fats etc. That's all the stuff my husband loves and is just not willing to give up.

Hi Sky,
I'm really sorry to hear that about your husband. You seem like a very supportive, caring wife who is doing everything she can to try and help your husband overcome his illnesses. Hopefully, upon seeing what you are doing, he will reexamine his own lifestle and adjust accordingly. I know fasting is a hot topic among many families. Everyone in my family speaks out against it, while taking a variety of unhealthy medications, that I believe do more harm in the longrun.
It's sure tough to give up wheat, rye, oats, barley, dairy products and meat. It doesn't leave much to eat. I am trying to adjust to all that now. I wish you and your husband the best. God bless you.

This is a reply to # 686,495Thanks so much Ann for those encouraging words. I know from what you have shared how your parents are so against what you are doing. God Bless you also in your efforts to regain your health. It is so difficult battling with family members...I feel like a fish trying to swim upstream sometimes. They think they know what is right, but they are woefully ill-informed and have trusted the established medical community and drug manufacturers too long. But we can only take care of ourselves, like you said, and hope and pray they will see the differences in our lives and want to apply it to their own.
Thanks again and I pray your healing will continue.
