Do you combine diet...and exercise?
I would stay away from diets like Atkins where you cut out an entire section (carbs)...because as soon as you add that section back, you will shoot up to a higher weight than you started at...plus, it's not healthy as far as food diets go.
If you're going to cut out one section...why not cut out all of them and try a fast or a cleanse? Look into juice fasting and master cleanse. I didn't have what it took to lose the weight on exercise and raw foods until after I tried the juice fast. I went from 170-115 over a year and...on a cleanse, you cleanse out your system of all the toxins holding you down so you're more motivated to exercise and eat right...it will fix your digestive system to where...even if you try to eat a whole bag of doritos after your fast...you won't be able to...I tried...it was gross. Then you'll be ready to start over and eat better, listen to your body with more understanding, and have more energy to do the workouts you want.
That or you could always try that...only eat naked in front of a mirror thing.
