Autumn
Hi pj darlin,'
One little thing that is really powerful right now is, every day contacting someone with a really interesting dream or right-livelihood or hobby, and asking for some advice. I was in this despair crash on Valentine's night and finally went to the library (my equivalent of going to a bar). I randomly walked into a lecture hall where this really friendly warm OPEN couple was giving a talk about helping future first-time homebuyers. I actually sat down, since some day it would be nice to buy a house, and let them hand me literature and advice. So it might sound dorky, but it did me good to see these wonderful dedicated government workers who really truly wanted to HELP and loved their job. It was so nice to sit back and be helped with all kinds of good advice.
Then last night I went to a church potluck. I've been circling their campfire like a coyote for 6 months now, afraid to really join and commit. And again people were just so good, they welcome everybody and were so glad and shared food and prayers and life experiences. And listening I could see that other people have WAY hard lives!!! But there they are, setting aside one night a week to share food and support and then a prayer service.
Then at work there are people in Personnel who actually encourage us to come in with our resumes and ask for good advice and direction, and they've been wonderful.
I have no idea whether that stuff will help you at all. But as I look around, there are lots of nice people who surprisingly enough are GLAD to share their information and time and enthusiasm. All I have to do is dress up and reach out and go put myself in their presence. (Afterwards I'm always careful to get back in touch and let them know how their advice helped and what I am doing to put it to good use, and to send appreciation. They really like that.)
Obviously you have big-time, long-term difficulties that you are coping with, so I hope this doesn't sound too light. It was just a good lesson for me lately, to really look around and see how much help really exists.
Blessings,
A
